Il Patio

This painting is born from a precise memory: the patio of my great-grandmother’s house.

A simple, everyday space, always protected from time yet never static. Over the years it was repaired, adjusted, covered — layer upon layer. The surface changed, but remained the same.

Light entered at an angle.
The walls carried the marks of time.
The floor was almost always wet.

I remember my grandmother washing it carefully, as if it were a ritual. Water would flow, leave traces, dry slowly. That patio was not just a place: it was presence, it was home, it was continuity.

The glossy, almost damp effect created with resin is not decoration. It is memory. It is the water that returned every day. It is the surface that reflects time and preserves it.

Here joy is not explosion.
It is permanence.
It is a place that endures.
It is the repeated gesture of everyday love.

It is knowing that, even when everything changes, something remains.
